Background: Hormonal changes during pregnancy can have an impact on dental health. Obstetricians are crucial in providing advice on dental issues and collaborating with dental surgeons to ensure safe and optimal care. This study aimed to investigate obstetricians' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding dental care for pregnant women. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 211 specialist obstetricians, trainees, and residents was conducted in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong, and Khulna divisions of Bangladesh, from July 1 to December 19, 2023. Eight medical colleges, comprising an equal number of public and private institutions, were randomly selected to ensure a balanced representation across divisions. Results: A significant portion recognized the link between hormonal changes and increased gum disease risk (75.4%), yet only 28.4% associated gum disease with adverse pregnancy outcomes. 87.7% acknowledged a connection between maternal oral health and other health conditions, 61.6% reported that oral health information was not included in their academic curriculum. Additionally, 87.2% of physicians advised pregnant mothers to brush twice daily, and 90% recommended dental consultations for tooth and gum problems. However, 52.1% did not routinely provide oral health advice to expectant mothers. In correlation SKS is strongly correlated with age (r = .766**) and work experience (r = .733**) and SAS is correlated with age (r = .159*) and work experience (r = .193**). And SPS shows no significant correlation with other variables. Conclusion: Physicians must recognize the crucial relationship between general health and dental care during pregnancy. Advanced education and substantial experience contribute to improved knowledge and practices among healthcare providers, highlighting the importance of continuous professional development for better patient care outcomes.
