Translational Stories: Biomarkers and Drug Transporters in Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a debilitating side effect to widely used chemotherapeutics that reduces quality of life among cancer patients during and after concluding treatment. We study CIPN in cell models and in clinical studies to understand the underlying molecular mechanism and biomarkers of this side effect. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of our recent advancements and how the findings have translated into patient relevance. Understanding CIPN holds the key to unravel basic biology of pain, neurodegeneration, and neurorepair.
