Model representations of drug exposure and response provide qualitative and quantitative descriptions of the temporal dynamics of drug action. These descriptions can deepen mechanistic insight and create efficiencies in drug development. Their capacity to identify sources of inter-patient differences in drug action establish them as indispensable tools towards achieving the ultimate goal of a personalized medicine paradigm in drug therapy. My research applies pharmacokinetic (drug exposure time course) and pharmacodynamic (drug effect time course) models in both pre-clinical and clinical realms to achieve these goals.
