Laura Shaughnessy, PhD, is currently the Development Strategy Lead WoCBA/Elderly within Special Patient Populations at UCB. In 2012, Laura joined UCB and has dedicated more than the last decade to the Women of Childbearing Age Program (WoCBA). This groundbreaking program presents an exceptional opportunity to enhance the quality of life and family planning for women living with severe medical conditions. Laura’s expertise spans strategic development, execution and publication of clinical studies related to pregnancy outcomes, pregnancy, placental transfer and milk transfer across multiple indications. In 2023, she became a member of the Expert Working Group to develop the E21 Guideline: Inclusion of Pregnant and Breastfeeding Individuals in Clinical Trials. Laura holds a PhD in Neurobiology from UNC Chapel Hill.
