Shirley Wang, MSc, is a PhD student in the Pharmacy program at the University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada) under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Edginton. Shirley holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Master of Science in Pharmacy, earned at the University of Waterloo. Her master's thesis was on Alzheimer's disease drug discovery, earning the 2023-2024 Dean of Science award at the School of Pharmacy and the Memorial poster award at the 2023 Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences conference. Additionally, she has expertise in developing bioanalytical methods with over 5 years of industry experience quantifying drugs in biological matrices for pre-clinical studies. In her PhD, Shirley combines her expertise in medicinal and analytical chemistry with her passion for pharmacometrics to drive her work on physiologically-based pharmacokinetic models. Her current research focuses on advancing neonatal drug exposure assessment during maternal therapy and lactation. This work aims to provide a vital means of assessing infant risk when considering the continuation of medical treatments during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
