Lona Sheeran has over three decades of experience in the industry, starting her career in lab bench research at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the cardiac lab. She later expanded her expertise by conducting animal research at Covance before transitioning into clinical research, where she focused on Phase 2-4 studies. Over the past 20 years, Lona has specialized in Phase 1 research, becoming a driving force for change and innovation. She has been instrumental in reshaping the strategies and operations of several companies, bringing a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge to each project.
Currently, Lona works at Worldwide Clinical Trials, where she provides strategic consulting to small and mid-sized companies, helping them navigate the complexities of Phase 1 clinical trials. Her office is situated in the Phase 1 facility in San Antonio, TX, which allows her to maintain a strong connection with both clinic employees and study participants. Lona sets the mission and vision for the Clinical Pharmacology Unit (CPU), ensuring that the needs of both clients and subjects are met. She oversees the clinic's financial performance, including revenue growth, margin improvement, and cost control, while also developing scalable business solutions. Lona collaborates closely with the Continuous Improvement group to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in both financial and operational areas.
